Tek grew up in New York where she studied dance and martial arts. She fell in love with group fitness in college when she tried her first Yoga class. Tek really admired the energy and sense of community she experienced with exercising in a group setting. She made many friends and learned about the importance of health and fitness through a balanced lifestyle. Tek has amazing energy that is contagious.

Tek’s hobbies are traveling, working out, spending time with family (including her Frenchie) and cooking delicious, healthy meals. Tek’s main goal is to create a warm, motivating, and welcoming environment that encourages self exploration and growth when every member steps into her class. She really strives to incorporate powerful postures that promote balance, breathwork, meditation, and inner peace in her classes. As a lifelong learner, and fitness enthusiast, Tek is here to assist you in achieving your fitness goals. 

Tek is certified in Yoga, Chair Yoga, Mat Pilates, Barre, and more. Make sure to check out her Chair Yoga class on Tuesdays at 12:15pm and Mat Pilates class on Sundays at 11:30am. She will also be teaching the 9am Cardio Barre class every other Sunday. Not only is Tek passionate and knowledgeable about fitness, she is also great with kids.

Congratulations to our September Employee of the Month, Ben!

Ben has been teaching swim lessons for about three years at the club. Outside of teaching, his favorite thing to do is spend time at the gym working on his fitness goals. “Having access to a really nice gym has kept me going consistently. The supportive members and staff also bring a welcoming environment that doesn’t make me nervous going to the gym.”

Ben struggled a bit when he first started working out as he wasn’t seeing much progress. After talking to Personal Trainer and Group Ex Director, Jeremiah Johnson, Ben walked away with not only a new workout plan but also nutrition advice to advance his fitness goals. His favorite exercises include the chest press or the stairmaster.

Outside of the club, Ben enjoys hanging out with friends, going to school and learning to play the piano. We’re so happy to have him on the team at Active at Petaluma!

We’re happy to highlight our September Member of the Month, Nancy! Nancy has been a member for 13 years. She truly finds JOY when walking through the club doors every day.

“I used to hate to sweat, so I avoided exercise. Active changed that mindset for me.”

Nancy learned that being consistent with her exercise program every day and regulating her diet has paid off immensely. Active Wellness Center Petaluma has been a key player for Nancy to lose a considerable amount of weight and continue to keep it off and most importantly THRIVE.

Nancy is grateful for not only the support of the staff, the front desk, fitness instructors and personal trainers, but also for the community of the members who continue to encourage and include her as part of the Active at Petaluma family. 

“I love that if I struggle I am quickly guided by the instructors and cheered on by other members. The “I can do this” attitude is infectious and uplifting.”

Some of the classes Nancy participates in include Aqua Aerobics, Body Fit, Body Blast, Tone Up, Mat Pilates, Stretch and Mobility and Wellness 3-in-1. She especially enjoys working with weights and include cardiovascular, as she finds that both challenging and motivating.

Outside the club, Nancy tends to her garden and is a voracious reader. Nancy looks forward to a continued healthy future where she spends time playing with her two grandchildren. She knows it takes work and commitment and that Active is there for her. Well done, Nancy!
